Meet Your GUE Colleagues: Fall 2026

Lt. Tera Geoffroy

Tera Geoffroy

Technical Instructor
Department of Naval Science / NROTC

  • My role: I am teaching Navigation classes and serve as an advisor for the sophomores and juniors.
  • Years at MIT: <1
  • Favorite hobbies or DIY projects: I love reading long, convoluted fantasy or science fiction novels.
  • Last great book you read: Patternmaster by Octavia E. Butler, a little weird for novice science fiction readers, but it is a certified page-turner.
  • Favorite dessert or treat: Lately it has been the Taza Chocolate Layer Cake at Veggie Galaxy!
  • If I won the lottery, I would: Take at least a year off working and travel around the world.

Kristin Baker

Kristin Baker

Community Associate
Terrascope First-Year Learning Community

  • My role: I support the members of the Terrascope first-year learning community in their transition to MIT in many ways, but mostly by feeding them.
  • Years at MIT: Just over 1.
  • Favorite hobbies or DIY projects: My favorite hobby is trying new hobbies. My saved crafting Instagram folder is overflowing. Am making paper-mache masks at the moment. Will ride any rollercoaster. Will see any play. Spent a year baking through the Cooks Illustrated’s Baking Book.
  • Last great book you read: Am reading my way through the 2026 HUGO award nominees. The Incandescent is a “school of magic” story told from the perspective of a teacher. It was a lot of fun and particularly insightful about working in education.
  • On the weekends, I love to: Stay in my pajamas, if I can get away with it.
  • If I won the lottery, I would: Just do the normal things anyone would do: take a trip, pay off my house, buy the two remaining domed former Colonial Oil stations that remain in Woburn and Malden, rehab the buildings and turn them into coffee shops / bookstores / urban garden centers / community spaces. The regular.
