Welcoming New Laureates and Leaders

Last month, the Office of Academic Community, Empowerment, and Success (OACES) hosted the Induction Ceremony for its Laureates and Leaders program, welcoming a new cohort of 23 students.
Laureates and Leaders supports undergraduate MIT students in pursuing graduate study in STEM. The program was established in response to alumni advocacy — in 2005, alumni published a white paper titled “Developing a Community of Leaders and Laureates,” calling for a shift from helping students simply survive at MIT to helping them truly thrive.
Founded the following year, Laureates and Leaders focuses on supporting students as they prepare for graduate study. Students join the program in their sophomore year and remain through graduation, gaining access to workshops, mentorship, and one-on-one advising with OACES staff to support their graduate school journey.
Now in its 20th year, Laureates and Leaders has supported over 400 students, many of whom have gone on to attend top graduate programs across the country.
The Laureates and Leaders team is grateful for the continued support of the MIT community and is excited to work with the newest cohort, the Class of 2028, as they begin their path toward graduate study.
